The Voyageur Café and Boutique at the Château de Combourg: a gourmet and inspired stopover
In the heart of the Château de Combourg—an iconic site in Ille-et-Vilaine where François-René de Chateaubriand spent part of his childhood—discover Le Voyageur Café and its boutique: a warm, refined space conceived as a living extension of the romantic soul of the estate.
Located at the entrance of the château, this 200 m² area has been entirely redesigned by architect Dominique Tosiani of La Maison Générale (Saint-Malo). It elegantly blends raw materials and contemporary design around the captivating theme of “Dark Romance”. Wood, stone, and light come together to create a space that is both welcoming and inspiring.
The boutique offers a carefully curated selection of books, souvenirs, handmade crafts, and toys. Le Voyageur Café, for its part, invites you to enjoy a gourmet break with artisanal pastries crafted by Maison Cœur and Elsa Gourmandises—true delights for both the eyes and the taste buds.
This friendly space was created in partnership with local artisans and businesses, in harmony with the heritage and spirit of the place. It can also host private events in an exceptional, light-filled setting.
Passionately designed by the château’s owners, this new jewel gives the site a contemporary dimension without losing any of its historical magic—echoing the world of Chateaubriand, master of Romanticism and witness to the boundless nature of sensitive souls.
